Malcolm Whyz3 (pronounced "wise") is a Denver-based conscious rapper who found his true calling in music. Though born and raised in Colorado, Whyz3 spent his summers in Harlem, visiting jazz clubs with his dad and falling in love with music from a young age. Watching his friends break into Denver’s underground hip-hop scene, he felt the itch to join them, and was finally emboldened to record something of his own after losing his beloved grandmother. Titled "What You Make It," the tribute to his grandmother became his first single and launched his rap career. Less than a year later, Whyz3 dropped his 2021 EP, Before the Streetlights Come On, cementing himself as a pillar of Colorado’s hip-hop community. Whyz3’s number one influence is J. Cole, with Kendrick Lamar as a close second. Like both MCs, Whyz3 is a gifted storyteller, crafting narrative tracks that closely mirror his own life experiences. As a conscious rapper, he embraces honesty and authenticity, providing a refreshing counterpoint to the grandstanding that mainstream hip-hop has popularized. His confident yet laid-back flow allows the listener to savor his poetic lyricism, which tends to address Whyz3’s real-life concerns, like mental health issues, family, and faith. With a rare combination of drive, insightfulness, and undeniable talent, Malcolm Whyz3 is on a steadfast trajectory towards greatness.
